Daniel E. Moore was born on November 4, 1959 in Lancaster, Ohio. He is the son of Henry C. Moore and the late Zonola Jean Anderson (Moore) and one of six siblings. Not long after his birth his Dad moved the family to the small town of Amsterdam, Ohio. His father did not have a decent paying job at the time and got financial support from his father Oliver C. Moore who was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation as a stationary engineer.
     Their home did not have running water or indoor plumbing. Bathing was in a galvanized washtub. Water was drawn from a well with a hand pump and heated on a black pot belly stove in the kitchen. His Mom washed the clothes on a scrub board and hung them on the line to dry. When you had to go to the bathroom you went to the outhouse. Life was hard for quite a while until his Dad got his license to operate boilers. Oliver helped his son study for the test and helped get him hired at the mill...More later.
